I am following the Ravelry Garment a Month KAL.  I haven’t been going to Ravelry too much but want my pictures up and available of the two projects (I’ll get back to Ravelry and get all that updated tomorrow)  The pictures have to be uploaded first anyway then I can add my projects.

Here is Garment # 1 for 2009.  It is a hat.  The only cool thing about this hat is that I came up with the knitting plan using my brain.  Some of you are wiping the sweat from your brow and saying WOW thats fabulous… not so much its a hat.

But like anybody pushing themselves to learn and grow… this was a test.  I had my gauge from a pair of socks recently knitted (Final Garment Knitted for 2008).  So, I said lets use the ribber and knit this hat … IN THE ROUND!  And so I did.  Its the first time that I did the calculations for circular knitting and came back with what I expected.  I also utilized some of the Ribber Techniques taught by Mary Anne Oger at the intensive in October.  As a matter of fact the only difference between this hat and the socks is the lack of a heel and toe.  The decreases for the hat were done using the full fashion decrease method.  Hmm ok so the hat has a toe instead of a tippy top. LOL  I did not use the computer or any notes to come up with this hat plan.  It took me all of 5 minutes.  Which is as it should be.  Here is my simple hat for my Father in Law as Garment # 1 of 2009.  The critical point being it fits.  I give myself an A for this effort.

Garment # 2  for 2009 is a UFO still.  My first attempt did not work out as well as I had hoped it would.  This is completely my own fault.  Its a shrug and it will fit someone.  Just not me, and that was the intent so this effort receives an F.  I made a mathematical error in recomputing the pattern.  I usually knit a pattern exactly how I am told the first time I knit it.  However, I would like to share the fabric that will be the Shruggity Shrug that I will get knitted as soon as I can sit down at the darn machine again.
