USMC Afghan for a charity raffle
By isrbrown. Filed in Machine Knitting, Patterns, Projects |A major project is underway and it is near and dear to my heart. I am working on designing/knitting an afghan with the Marine Corp emblem centered and the words Semper (left) Fidelis (right) worked in seedstitch. This is along the lines of a wedding afghan. ALTHOUGH… I have never worked an afghan with intarsia.. OK I DID.. once and it was not good. I did a lot of intarsia though this summer and fall knitting Doggy sweaters to help out a friend. They were cool. This will be ? less difficult I hope. SO.. my next podcasts… will be how I deal with this latest challenge. I am totally looking forward to it and any input I receive from the folks reading this.
I have to start out getting the graphic and a chart. I have the pattern plan. I used Knitware so I guess I’ll talk about How I used Knitware to do that portion first. I’ll share the pattern freely in the end. I figure anyone who wants to knit for the Marine Corps is in my book as earned a freebie… oh wait everything here is free! (SO FAR!) Keeping it that way unless I really invest time and money into something soooo…… you’ll know when I do because I’ll apologize profusely for actually charging for something. Its OK though … some things no one gets for free. Like lunch. I am happy to do what I can freely and since this is being freely given… I will encourage others to knit it freely.
Besides… who doesn’t want to support our soldiers? Young or old? My son is a Marine currently in Hawaii (so far not in the middle east) and I do!
So herein begins a theme for the next few posts. Which may be interrupted because of the Fingerlakes Machine Knitting Seminar that happens in late April… of course I might be done by then right?

The afghan, sounds interesting. I made a bed spread on a Bond with the Marine Corp emblem. I would love to see the afghan when it is finished.
