Cool Knitted Lanyards

lanyardOK… there are some really cool differences between Brother & Singer/Silver Reed machines.

On the Brother there are two buttons that allow you to slip in one direction or another depending on the button selection. This is great for making I-Cord. On some of the Singers that I have you have to turn a dial in order to slip at all. Then turn the dial again to knit. So I-cord is fast and easy to make on the Brother.

So yesterday I made my DD 19 a lovely black and red lanyard for her cell phone and keys etc. I had to have one for myself.

SUPER EASY! You can also add beads to this project at your whim. I will do one with more beads but will only do it on the center stitch.

Closed Cast on 3 stitches (For a nice thin simple cord) More as desired for thick cords.

Knit 1 row

Slip 1 row

Continue until you acheive the desired length Stretch and measure btw … any weight will lengthen your cord so keep this in mind.

Cast off

Add a bead or other accent with a hole that you can slip both ends of your cord through. Join the two ends of the cord and tie. Hide the yarn ends by working it through the center of the cord. Your bead/Accent should move up and down relatively easily. Add findings to connect your items to the lanyard attach items and off you go.
